Unren.bat is a batch file useful to extract RPA archives, decompile RPYC files or enable developer console in Ren’Py games. This may be useful if the media files (images and videos) of a Ren’Py game is archived or compiled in a single file like .rpa or .rpyc. This is a simple tool that does not require internet connection or any delendencies. The tool is compatable with Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11.

Installation of Unren.bat

  • Download the zip file from above and extract it. You will get a file named UnRen-1.0.11d.bat (latest version).
  • Copy that file and place it inside the game’s main directory where the exe file is, just like the photo below.
  • Double-click on the .bat file to execute it.
  • In the terminal, you can select any tool you want. It is self-explanatory.

Known Issues

  • Having non-ASCII characters in your folder path may cause issues
    • Exclamation points in paths will need to be replaced, as they are currently not supported
  • XP and Vista users might need this PowerShell update from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968929
